Flower Power Take 2

A few days ago I posted a poncho and cap set that I made for my great-niece. I like the set, but wasn't thrilled with the hat - it was close, but not quite right. The brim was too floppy for the flipped up front, and it looked a little odd, so I made another hat, and this one I love!

The top hat is the first, the bottom is the new improved cap.

Found it!!

I found the camera!!! Didn't think to look in the glove compartment!

Well, we have it so here is a photo of the hat and poncho I made for my little cutie. I hope they fit her!

Off to post photos of all the great donations that I just received for Marine Corps Kids!!!

Back on the Hook
I'm nowhere near unpacked, and my yarn is everywhere, but I've finally had some time to crochet again!!! It feels good!

My adorable great-niece will be turning one in a few weeks, and I will finally get to meet her and celebrate her first birthday with her! I just finished a little poncho for her, and am going to make a matching hat. I hope they fit, but if not, I'll be able to make her lots of new things and deliver them to her in person!!! I'd post a photo of the poncho, but I can't seem to find my camera. :(

I'll come back and post pictures when I find the camera - it must be here somewhere!

Hooking Withdrawl
Well, we've been here for a week, and it's been hectic. The furniture was delivered, but the house that we're renting, while a great house, is much smaller than the one I own, and the furniture and boxes more than fill it up. There are boxes everywhere, and while we're making some good progress in getting things unpacked, its a job to figure out what must stay packed, what must get re-packed and where all the unpacked things will go. Another week and we should be in good shape - I hope.

My first week at work was great. I think I got very lucky to land a job with a great company. The management and all my co-workers have been wonderful and have really made me feel welcomed. I hope to be here for a long time - this could be a fabulous career change for me.

Hubby and I are both really enjoying the town. It's very pretty here, and while it's a small town, there is quite a lot to do. Amazing restaurants, good local shopping, great scenic drives and lots of cultural events to look forwards to. This town really offers a lot in the way of music, theater and art; and in a few weeks the Dali Lama is coming to visit (his brother lives here)!

I'm totally exhausted and can't seem to get enough sleep, but I have no complaints. This is all exciting.

With all the change though, I haven't crocheted even one chain in over a week!!! I haven't gone for more than a day without crochet since I began, so this is odd. I have a HUGE yarn stash, and bagged it up to use as packing material, so what was once a relatively organized supply, is now all over the place. I hope to get it reorganized in the next few days and get busy. Now, not only do I need to get busy with my charity projects, but I can use a few hats and scarves for myself! It's been COLD!!!

It's official! We're Indianaonians! Yes, I know - we're supposed to be Hoosiers, but I have no idea what a Hoosier is. Indianaonian seems like a fun word, so that's what I'm using. Except when it comes to my dear mother-in-law who will forever be my "Hoosier Momma".

Moving is stressful and horrible, but this went as smoothly as a long distance move could have gone. The drive wasn't that bad, the moving company did relatively well, the cats were all troopers, we're no where near settled in the new house but we're working on it, and the new job seems like its going to be great!!

The weather has been warm and wonderful, but today plunged to the 40s - that was incredibly painful for me - especially when I couldn't find any shoes or pants and had to go to work in a dress with sandals and bare legs.

All in all, I'm a bit weary, very tired, somewhat overwhelmed, but happy and hopeful!

It's moving time!
Well, we're down to the wire with this move.

It's my birthday today, and I have to say its one of the more stressful ones I've had. I think it's going to be a GREAT year though. I hate moving and I'm in a foul mood (my poor hubby), but I think this will be a good move once it's done and we're all settled.

It's about time to pack up the computers - that means I'll be off line for about a week. That in and of itself is stressful!!!! We're internet addicts. With my computer packed and all my crochet packed, I'm not sure what I'll do!!! Probably pack and clean. Oh joy.

Anyway - tonight we're having dinner with my dearest friends here in Florida, and then the moving van comes tomorrow and we start on this new adventure. Next time I blog I'll be a Hoosier (whatever that is).

Moving Woes
I am not a good mover. Worms are slow moving critters. We wiggle and we squiggle, but we don't get all that far - so..... a move from Florida to Indiana is a big deal for me!! It's been going pretty well. The packing is mostly done, but now that we're getting down to the wire, I'm feeling rising panic. I thought I bought way too many boxes. Now I'm sure I don't have enough. I think we're in good shape, but I'm sure the movers will come and we won't be packed.

And then there is the whole thing of driving all the way to Indiana. I'll be in my car with the two vocal cats. Honey will be in his truck with the one sulking cat. I hate driving, and the thought of 17.5 hours of it may have me break out in hives. The cats get tranquilizers - I can't take anything - I'm driving!!!

I'm ready to get out of Florida and start something new, but there will be a few friends who I will miss so much that it hurts. And while I thought I wouldn't miss anything but those few friends, I almost cried at the vets office today. Dr. Ferber has been my vet for 11 years. He took care of Bogey when he hurt his back. He was there for my Birdie. When Tater was so sick, he went above and beyond the call of duty to help him get well. I hope I can find as dear a vet in Indiana.

I'm sure I'll find other things that I'll miss. The familiarity of a place that's been home for so long. Indiana is beautiful though, and I think that I've found a great new job with a wonderful company. There is a lot of culture there - art shows, musical festivals, and theater. In addition to the regular chains, they have a fabulous local art store! They sell yarn and wheels and looms - Hubby has already told me that he's giving me a belated birthday gift of a lesson on the loom. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I save up the money to buy one!!!

So....this will be a great new start, and I really am looking forward to it, but right now - today, I feel a bit sad and nostalgic and worried and stressed out. Luckily, tomorrow is another day.
